In-person and virtual workshops are offered quarterly and cover a variety of topics to assist students in considering and applying to graduate or law school. Most do not require registration. We occasionally host information sessions and other events with campus and external partners.

Grad School 101

Are you thinking about grad school but don’t know where to start? Discover the differences between Master’s and Ph.D programs, and research versus professional programs in this workshop, as well as various factors to consider when choosing the type of program, including funding.

How to Write the CV or Resume for Grad School    

Learn how to write a curriculum vitae, how it is different from a resume, and what role it plays in the application process.

How to Write the Personal History Statement

How to Prepare for and Apply to Law School

Are you considering law school but unsure where to start? Join us for a workshop where a prelaw advisor will provide a general introduction to the law school application process and details.

Intro to the LSAT

This workshop introduces the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and discusses study strategies and test-taking best practices.

Personal Statement for Law School

Learn about the personal statement for law school, what it should cover, and how it works with the other aspects of the application. We encourage attending the "How to Prepare for Law School" workshop first.

Specialized Workshops

(Fall) Application Workspace

Please feel free to join us for our Pre-Grad/Law Application Workspace! What do we mean by "workspace"? It's a dedicated time and space for you to focus on your graduate or law school applications (especially your essays) with the added benefit of having a pre-grad/law advisor available for guidance and feedback. Feel free to come and go as you need. Just bring your laptop, snacks, and anything else that helps you stay productive. We’re here to support you as you make progress on your applications!

(Winter) Dealing with Rejection

How does one pivot after grad or law school rejection? Where does one begin? This workshop focuses on gaining perspective about the admission process, staying grounded, and the next steps. This is intended to provide attendees with a general start in the reflecting and pivoting part of the process. Please note that we will offer two versions of this workshop: one tailored for pre-grad students and another specifically for pre-law students.

(Fall-Spring) Going to Grad School for Psychology

Are you interested in going to graduate school for psychology? Learn about the many different programs available, including the Master’s in Social Work (MSW), Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), clinical psychology Ph.Ds and PsyDs, and research Ph.Ds. Find out which grad programs prepare you for specific career paths, including therapist, clinical psychologist, or professor of psychology, and how to prepare for them.

This workshop is a general introduction to the business school (Master’s in Business Administration) application process.

Thinking about becoming a teacher? This workshop is a general introduction to the application process for teaching credential programs (K-12) in California. Offered through a partnership with the UC Davis School of Education. *Registration is required.
