Success Coaching and Learning Strategies is part of the Student Success Pathways unit in the Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center (AATC).
Coaching for Confidence and Growth
Success Coaching is a one-on-one, student-centered support model focused on action, reflection, and progress. Our framework of practice is centered around the International Coaching Federation (ICF) core competencies. Coaches partner with students to explore their goals, habits, and challenges—using active listening and powerful questions to foster self-awareness and forward movement. Rather than giving answers, coaches help students discover their own solutions.
Through coaching and workshops, UC Davis students (undergraduate and graduate) gain tools to take control of their academic, personal, and professional success. Services include self-assessment, skill building, goal setting, action planning, and progress monitoring—all designed to support holistic, student-driven growth.

Success Coaching and Learning Strategies can help you take control of your academic, personal, and professional success through one-on-one appointments and a quarterly workshop series. Workshops cover time management, academic skills, and goal setting topics. Popular workshops include Designing a Weekly Schedule, Reading in the Research University, Study Smarter, Not Harder, and Strategies for Test Taking. Visit successcoaching.ucdavis.edu for more information.
Student Referrals
Students can schedule appointments online in the Advising Appointment System (OASIS). Appointments can also be requested by phone (750-752-4936) or email (successcoaching@ucdavis.edu). The self-assessment tool can help direct students to services based on their needs.
Students can request proof of attendance, should workshop attendance or a coaching referral be required.
Class visits
Classroom visits can be requested to share a brief overview of our services, or to present our Thrive vs. Survive workshop (50 minutes). This workshop serves as an academic wellness assessment, and provides best practices across various learning strategies and study habits. Students will also be introduced to the full range of workshops we offer.
